Sonora.ID – The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that the life expectancy (UHH) of Indonesia’s population reached 73.93 years in 2023. The low life expectancy in Indonesia is attributed to limited healthcare infrastructure and services, as well as a shortage of qualified medical personnel. This condition poses a challenge in realizing Indonesia’s Golden Vision 2045.
To achieve this goal, the country needs S.M.A.R.T Healthcare Facilities (Safe, Quality, Affordable, Friendly, Accessible). In addition to S.M.A.R.T, the application of Indonesian National Standards (SNI) also needs to be promoted.
The Secretary General of the National Standardization Agency (BSN), Donny Purnomo, stated that the implementation of SNI related to medical equipment and healthcare facilities must be encouraged.
“BSN encourages the implementation of standards related to medical equipment and healthcare facilities. Many standards have been established, but their application needs to be supported collectively through collaboration and synergy with all relevant parties for mutual progress,” said Donny at the International Healthcare Engineering Forum (INAHEF) 2024 in Jakarta on Tuesday (17/9/2024).
According to Donny, as of August 2024, BSN has set 15,231 SNI standards, with 463 SNI related to medical equipment and healthcare facilities still active.
INAHEF 2024 is a forum initiated and supported by the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin), and BSN. It is organized by the Indonesian Association of Healthcare Engineering (PTPI) in collaboration with industry, universities, associations, and local governments.
The goals of the event include formulating plans for implementing government programs for 2024–2029, particularly in the healthcare sector; obtaining input from regions and formulating and implementing these programs across Indonesia through the congress; assessing the compliance of products supporting SMART Hospitals with regulations; and providing awards to industries that comply with regulations.

In his speech, PTPI President Eko Supriyanto said that the International Healthcare Engineering Forum is held to produce models and programs for 2025-2029 to strengthen healthcare facilities and the health industry.
“This includes health check-up programs for the 9 Priority Diseases, the systemic, structured, massive, and modern TB handling program, fulfilling healthcare facilities across Indonesia, as well as the model for the structure of the domestic medical device industry and the healthcare facilities financing model,” Eko explained.
Through INAHEF 2024, it is hoped that the attendees, which include central and regional governments, healthcare facilities, universities, professional associations, healthcare facility associations, as well as consultants and contractors of healthcare facilities, can contribute actively and synergize to sharpen health transformation and achieve SMART Hospitals in Indonesia.
INAHEF 2024 also featured various activities, such as exhibitions, congresses, seminars, and health check-ups.
