Liputan6.com, Jakarta – The National Standardization Agency (BSN) has highlighted the low life expectancy in Indonesia compared to other Southeast Asian countries.
According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), life expectancy in Indonesia reached 73.93 years in 2023.
On the other hand, to realize Indonesia’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2045, one of the key indicators is raising life expectancy to 80 years.
Thus, Donny Purnomo, Secretary General of BSN, emphasized the need for SMART healthcare facilities (Fasyankes) to support this goal. SMART stands for Safe, Quality, Affordable, Friendly, and Accessible.
In addition to being SMART, the implementation of Indonesian National Standards (SNI) also needs to be promoted. This was stated by Donny during the International Healthcare Engineering Forum (INAHEF) 2024 in Jakarta on Tuesday (17/9/2024).
Donny explained that the application of SNI related to medical equipment (alkes) and healthcare facilities (faskes) must be pushed forward.
“BSN is encouraging the adoption of standards related to medical equipment and healthcare facilities because many standards have already been established. However, their implementation needs to be supported through collaboration and synergy with all relevant stakeholders for mutual progress,” Donny stated, quoted on Wednesday (18/9/2024).
As of August 2024, BSN has established 15,231 SNI standards, with 463 related to medical equipment and healthcare facilities that are still active.
INAHEF 2024 is a forum initiated and supported by the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin), and BSN.
The event is organized by the Indonesian Healthcare Engineering Association (PTPI), in collaboration with industry, universities, associations, and local governments.
The goal of this event is to develop an implementation plan for government programs in the 2024-2029 period, particularly in healthcare, gather input from regional representatives, and formulate and implement these programs nationwide. Additionally, the event aims to assess the compliance of SMART Hospital supporting products with regulations and recognize industries that meet these regulations.
Eko Supriyanto, President of PTPI, explained that INAHEF 2024 aims to generate models and programs for 2025-2029, focusing on strengthening healthcare facilities and the healthcare industry.
“This includes health screening programs for 9 priority diseases, a structured, systemic, massive, and modern approach to tuberculosis (TB), programs for fulfilling healthcare facilities across Indonesia, as well as models for domestic medical equipment industries and healthcare facility financing,” Eko said.
Through INAHEF 2024, it is hoped that participants, including central and regional government representatives, healthcare facilities, universities, professional associations, and healthcare consultants and contractors, will contribute input, become more active in collaboration, and help refine the healthcare transformation to achieve SMART Hospitals in Indonesia.
INAHEF 2024 also includes various activities such as exhibitions, congresses, seminars, and health screenings.
